Period Poverty…What is it & How YOU Can Help Today!

I am assisting some wonderful women in their goal to get the word out AND help combat this worldwide issue in our small, yet important corner of the world, Cleveland, Ohio! Read on to learn more about the impact of period poverty & how you can help right now and in the future!

Did you know that according to a recent study conducted by the Cleveland Foodbank, nearly half of Cleveland teens have experienced period poverty! That means that every time you see two of our young people, it is a VERY real possibility that one of them has faced this challenge atop of all the other variables they have to contend with! This also means that nearly half of Cleveland teens have had difficulty obtaining necessary menstrual hygiene products due to financial constraints. This lack of access to menstrual hygiene products affects their overall health, hygiene, and ability to attend school. In addition, Cleveland Foodbank found that many of these teens have had to resort to using socks, newspaper, and other makeshift items as menstrual hygiene products. This is an unacceptable reality and we must continue to work to eliminate period poverty in Cleveland.

The goal is to create 100 emergency kits to combat period poverty. Each kit will include a pair of underwear, sanitary napkins, & wipes. We are also hoping to include a washcloth & bra. Will you help us to reach this goal? If so, THANK YOU! Please continue below for information on what we are asking for & all the various ways you may contribute to our cause.
